Drop.io is a file sharing / storing site that allows users to store and share pictures, videos, audio, documents etc. without having to register or give an e-mail address. Drop.io utilises Google Maps so that users can add a location to an uploaded file.
So why would you need to associate a file that exists virtually in cyberspace? Drop.io has these suggestions:
- Build a game
- Enhance a geocaching event
- Create location-specific content for special guests (everyone attending your concert, perhaps?)
- Create public spots to share memories
- Provide an alternative to URLs (instead of something like drop.io/klkvas2, try "go to the front door of your house," plus, it's a lot easier to remember "the corner of 23rd and Broadway" than a URL).
