Mapping the Political Crisis in Madagascar

Foko

Crisis information crowdsourcing website Ushahidi has created a new site, Foko, to allow individuals to report incidents in crisis torn Madagascar.

The political power struggle in Madagascar has left over one hundred dead and has seen the military storming Madagascar's constitutional court. Demonstrations against the present military supported government have been met by police and soldiers opening fire on protesters.

The Ushahidi Foko map allows anyone to submit an incident by text or by adding a report directly to the map. Importantly the map also allows Madagascans to receive alerts. To receive an alert you need to select your location on the Google Map and enter your mobile phone number and e-mail.
