Foraging with Google Maps

Neighborhood Fruit

Neighborhood Fruit in a service designed to help people find and share fruit. You can use the service to find fruit in any quantity you want. The site was created to make use of the abundant fruit growing in urban neighborhoods. Currently, the bulk of fruit grown in back yards in cities goes to waste, whilst the fruit we consume is grown in water-intensive orchards far from our homes.

The site uses Google Maps to show the location of fruit trees on public land. You can get information about each tree by clicking on its map marker. It is possible to search the map by location. Registered users of the site can also add markers of fruit trees that they know the location of.
