Local Government on Google Maps

My Place in Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest Council in the UK has produced a Google Map of the borough to inform citizens of their local services and amenities.

The map displays a huge amount of data about local points of interest. The data is organised into an incredible 33 different categories, for example, 'post offices', 'schools', libraries etc. It is possible to select any or all categories of markers to view on the map.

The map also has a 'My Place' option, so that citizens can enter their home address and view the places and services near by. Each mapped location also comes with an option to view driving, walking and public transportation directions from your saved 'My Place' to your chosen point of interest.
