Wildfire Google Maps Mashup

North American Wildfire Browser

The North American Wildfire Browser enables users to follow live wildfire activity in North America. In addition, it details specific information about the San Diego Witch Fire of 2007 and historical heat maps from 2001 onward.

The application, built with the Google Maps API and Dojo, receives live and static data feeds from a number of sources including: Fire Information for Resource Management System, Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination - Wildfire Support, InciWeb Incident Information System, USDA Forest Service and includes photos from Flickr.

The California heat maps for 2001-2007 include heat map animations for each year. It is even possible to define the speed of the animations. Current wildfire incident information is provided below the map.
