More Weather Google Maps

National Weather Service

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is testing a Google Map displaying radar from the National Weather Service.

The map includes controls to pause, play or stop the latest radar imagery and a slide control that allows users to control the speed of the animation. The map also includes the option to view the latest weather warnings.

As this is a test map the NOAA are keen to receive feedback on the map and have therefore included a comment section with the map.

Iowa Environmental Mesonet

The Iowa State University Department of Agronomy have produced a Google Maps mashup to display severe US weather. On first loading the map seems to centre on the latest storm report from the National Weather Service.

The affected area is shown on the map with a shaded polygon and storm reports are available via the red map markers. The site uses the National Weather Service's Valid Time Event Code to display further information on the displayed weather in the map sidebar.
