Friday Fun with Google Maps

Google Maps Envelope - Beta

A couple of months ago I posted about the brilliant map envelope idea. Designers Rahul Mahtani and Yofred Moik have picked up the idea and taken it for a little run.

Their concept is to add a link in Gmail to send a snail mail of an e-mail rather than (or as well as) the electronic one. I'm not sure Google will want to pick up the postage for that but the envelopes do look good.

Realistic Google Maps Walking Directions

Zach Jones thinks that Google should provide realistic walking directions for when you are in a foreign country. Check them out - I think you'll find them a bit more realistic than Google's.

Race You There

Here's another music video created by stitching together Google Maps Street View. This one is really good and for a change is actually accompanied by some decent music, although I'm not sure Wayne and Garth would like it ...

Wayne and Garth Found in Street View

Google Sightseeing have found Wayne and Garth in Google Maps Street View. Looks like they're heading to a party - excellent.
