The Global Animated Protest Map
John Beieler has updated his Global Protest Map to show protests not only geographically but over time. The new map is animated to show GDELT protest data chronologically from 1979 until the present day.
The color of each point on the Google Map is scaled by the number of events, with darker circles indicating more events. John Bieler has also written up some useful information about how the data is interpreted on the map, some caveats about the data and some information about how the map was created.
