Finding Tech Jobs with Google Maps

The HN Hiring Map is a Google Map of jobs advertised on the who is hiring thread on Hacker News. It is possible to refine the jobs shown on the map by location, by those offering internships and those with H-1B visa status.

The code for the map is available on GitHub. It is well worth having a scan of the code. There are some clever things going on under the hood of this map, including parsing the HN News thread text for locations and then geo-coding the results.

An alternative source for tech jobs is GitHub jobs. Don't worry there is a Google Map for that as well. GitHub Jobs is a map showing the locations of jobs on the GitHub jobs listings.

If you are looking for a tech job then you might also check out these local tech start-up community maps, many of which include jobs in local tech scenes.
