The Bitly Stream Map

The Bitly Real-Time Media Map is a fascinating insight into real-time traffic using the Bitly URL shortening service.

The map uses data from the last ten minutes of the Bitly stream to visualize the popularity of newspapers, TV & radio channels and magazines in each state. You can use the map to find out in which southern states Al Jazeera is more popular that Fox News and where in America the San Jose Mercury is more popular than The New York Times.

You can click on each state to view the popularity of each media company (based on people sharing Bitly links). Alternatively you can click on any of the media companies to view how popular they are in each state.
