The World of Sesame Street

Google has created a fun little world map to show the locations of all the locally produced versions of the popular children's program Sesame Street around the globe.

Users of the Global Grover map can click on any of the country map markers and view a YouTube video of the country's version of the television show. Map developers however are more likely to want to look at the code behind the map.

The map works by animating through a series of background images of the world. Spin the globe and the animation eases out of the current background image and through a series of consecutive images until easing into the image of the next location with map markers.

It is a neat method to create a limited interactive globe and of course has the advantage of working for users who haven't installed the Google Earth plug-in.
