The World's Population on Google Maps

Mapshup is an interesting Google Maps based application for viewing world population density and worldwide light pollution. The map also includes a Wikipedia level that allows you to view information about locations around the world from their Wikipedia entries.

The map includes two main raster layers that can be turned on to view the 'Earth at night' and 'Population Density'. Both layers include an opacity control that enable you to adjust the transparency of the raster maps. You can also choose from a number of different base maps, including Google Maps map, satellite and raster views and OSM and MapQuest maps.
