The Real Time Maps of New York

LiveTrain NYC is a real-time map of MTA subway trains. The map shows the MTA trains moving in real-time based on the trip updates provided by the MTA.

The map uses the MTA's GTFS real-time feed of schedule updates to estimate the position of the trains on the network. If you select a train's marker on the map you can view its full scheduled timetable, showing when the train is expected to arrive at each station on its route.

The trains shown on the map can be filtered by route. It is also possible to click on the station markers to view the scheduled departures at that stop.

If you prefer teveling by bus then you should have a look at the MTA's real-time map of bus locations. MTA Bus Time is a Google Map that shows the live position of buses on New York's bus system.

The bus locations are determined by GPS. It is possible to search the map by intersection, bus route or individual bus stop. If you click on an individual bus you can view its next three scheduled stops.

Tweat.it is a Google Map that shows the locations in real-time of mobile food vendors in New York City.

Tweat.it automatically reads Tweets by public food vendors to find when a location is mentioned. It then plots that vendor on the map. This happens automatically in real time so you always have up-to-the-minute information about the location of your favorite food truck vendor.
