I'm breaking Google Maps Mania's golden rule of no non-interactive maps for these beautiful topography maps created by Geotheory.
The relief maps were made using data from the British Oceanic Data Centre. Geotheory has put together a slideshow of the world map and a number of close-up images of geologically interesting locations around the world.
It would be nice to see the world map imported into MapBox or Google Maps - but I'm sure you'll appreciate the beauty of these still images anyway.
