After posting about the addition of streets, roads and cities for India on Google Maps, Google Blogoscoped has informed me that Singapore and Hong Kong also now have streets available for viewing:
Singapore:
Hong Kong:
As with the India post I suspect mashups will increase in number in these two locations, and sites like Wikimapia and Sightseeing with Google Satellite Maps will see more locations described and added:
Wikimapia: Singapore, Hong Kong
Sightseeing with Google Satellite Maps: Singapore, Hong Kong
hou ye!!!! ^^
ReplyDeletePersonally, I can't wait until Google Maps covers the entire globe. That would be so cool.
ReplyDeleteHopefully geocoding support for Austria will be coming soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat! More of SE Asia, especially Jakarta, KL, Manila, Bangkok please!
ReplyDeleteWe have a mashup at www.findbyclick.com of Starbucks in Hong Kong.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Hong Kong street maps are not available through our mashup.
Anyone have a guess when Google will extend Hong Kong street maps to us who build mashups?
-- Cheers, Kevin
The Google Maps for Singapore and Hong Kong doesn't recognize the street names when i tried searching, even though the names are on the map itself. Routing also doesn't work. i believe there's no actual map data driving them. Hopefully, these features are added soon~~~~! Go Google Maps!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tipp regarding the new Hong Kong maps ^_^
ReplyDeleteApparent Google map itself (maps.google.com) is updated with map of Hong Kong while user map using Google API still cannot see the map, only Satellite image.
ReplyDeleteOne thing to note is that if you're accessing GMap via their Published API, you're not going to get the street level information. The only thing that is available is the Satellite images.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how Google uses two different datasets for internal and external use.
Hope they have Canada, Toronto :-)
ReplyDeletewill malaysia coming up?
ReplyDeleteGoogle has updated Hong Kong maps to support Google Street view! Yeah!
