The Negro Traveler's Guide on Google Maps

In the 1930's Victor H. Green started publishing an African-American travel guide (first published as 'The Negro Motorist Green Book' and later as 'The Negro Travelers' Green Book'). In the guides Green reviewed hotels and restaurants that allowed African Americans during the time of Jim Crow laws and racial segregation in the United States.

The University of South Carolina has created a Green Book Map that shows all the locations and businesses listed in the guides that "were locatable to within approximately a half-mile radius". Entries on the map can be searched by name, location or by type of business. The entries can also be filtered by state.
