The Corporate Map of the World

I'm not exactly sure what the Corporate World Map shows, but I like the visual effect of US states and federal regions of Russia represented by company logos.

At first I assumed that the states and federal regions were being represented on the map by their biggest corporations but I think the map might just show a well known company that has its headquarters in the state or federal area.
