Death on the Berlin Wall
Spanish radio & television broadcaster RTVE has released an interactive map to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The map investigates the 138 victims who were killed trying to cross the Wall during the Cold War.
During the 28 years of the Wall's existence 121 men, 8 women and 9 children were killed while trying to cross into West Berlin. Caidos en el Muro uses the Google Maps API to plot the locations where each of the 138 victims were killed while trying to cross the border between East and West Germany.
You can filter the results by date, by age, by sex and by type of death. If you select a marker on the map you can read brief details (in Spanish) about the life of the selected victim and how they were killed. If you click on the victim's name in the information window you can read more about the individual (in English) on the Berlin Wall Memorial website.
