Add a Google Map to Your Realty Listings

PeekaCity

PeekaCity sells itself as a local search solution for real-estate agents. It is a community mapping tool for real estate agents wishing to show-case their neighborhood selling points, such as nearby schools, grocery stores, transportation and parks.

Real estate agents can pay a subscription to PeekaCity to embed the map in their own websites. Normal users however can search the map for free. If you enter your address or zipcode then PeekaCity will return a Google Map showing your location.

For each location you can select to view local businesses and amenities on the map from a number of categories. It is also possible to set the distance within which you wish to search.

Local Search on Google Maps

Scoot

Scoot is a local business finder for the UK. As well as returning names and addresses of businesses many of the results include opening times, payment methods, website links, photos, coupons and videos. All the results are also shown on a Google Map.

Each result for a search is displayed with a number of tabs. The 'map' tab loads a Google Map with a marker showing the businesses location. In the map view it is also possible to add a starting location and get driving directions to the business.

Google Maps v3 Demo Gallery

Yesterday Google added a very nice demo of a mashup of the Google Maps v3 API with the Google AJAX Local Search API.

Using the demo map developers should easily be able to build their very own local search map.

Google's Local Business Center

Google's Local Business Center team today rolled out an awesome new feature that lets businesses view information about how customers are interacting with local listings in Google Maps and Google Search. If you own a business that is listed on Google Maps you will definitely want to check out the new 'dashboard' feature.

This video introduces the new dashboard feature from the Local Business Center,

Data available in the dashboard includes:

  • Impressions: The number of times the business listing appeared as a result on a Google.com search or Google Maps search in a given period.
  • Actions: The number of times people interacted with the listing; for example, the number of times they clicked through to the business' website or requested driving directions to the business.
  • Top search queries: Which queries led customers to the business listing; for example, are they finding the listing for a cafe by searching for "tea" or "coffee"?
  • Zip codes where driving directions come from: Which zip codes customers are coming from when they request directions to your location.
