Hillforts and Castles on Google Maps
Digital Digging is an interesting archaeological website which uses Google Maps and Google Earth to give a geographical context to important archaeological sites.
The site has recently launched a Hillfort Project to compile data on every hillfort in England, Wales and Scotland. Currently the project includes Google Maps satellite images of hillforts in Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Alongside the satellite image of each hillfort is information about its location and history.

Daniel O'Grady's excellent Japanese Castle Explorer is a collection of Japan's most famous (and plenty of lesser known) castles.
The map features Google Maps satellite views, Wikipedia, photo and video layers. Where available you can even use Street View to take a virtual tour. The map also comes with a 'random castle' button, a 'region' button (which shows the castles in Japan's different regions) and links to more detailed information on each castle.
