California's Chemicals of Concern

In California farmers apply more than 100 million pounds of pesticides to crops each year. Of particular concern to many environmentalists is the rise in the use of 1,3-Dichloropropene, a pesticide banned in Europe.

California's Chemical Hotspots is a map showing the most commonly applied pesticides throughout the state from 2003 through 2012. The map provides a heat-map visualization of the level of pesticides used. It is therefore possible to enter an address to see if you live in one California's chemical hot-spots.

You select to view a heat-map of all chemicals of concern, 1,3-D coverage and all fumigants. The map also includes a few links to particular 'hot-spots', where high levels of pesticide are of particular concern.
