Born and Died on Google Maps

Retred is a lovely Google Map that displays the birthplaces of famous people throughout history. Select a location on the map and map markers will show you who was born nearby and also when certain locations were founded.

Each marker on the map includes a link to the indicated person's (or place's) Wikipedia entry. Retred includes a date slide control, therefore it is possible to search for entries for particular periods in time.

The map even includes a drop-down menu which provides quick links to some interesting periods of time at different locations, for example the American Frontier, Victorian London, the Crusades and World War II.
