The Geography of TV News - Part Two

Back in December the Internet Archive geo-coded 400,000 hours of U.S. television news and mapped the locations mentioned in each report. The Animated Geography of TV News map provides an animated visualization of the locations mentioned in the news, showing the countries and areas that receive the most attention and the areas which are neglected by American news channels (sorry Africa).

The Internet Archive has now released another mapped visualization of the same data. The TV News map provides a similar time based animation but this time it allows you to compare and contrast the geographic coverage of individual TV news channels.

You can select individual TV news channels and view their geographic coverage for any date range. The map provides a great way to compare and contrast the world coverage of individual American news channels and to gain an insight into how deep each channel has covered individual world news stories over the last four years.
