Britain & the USA Battle to Conquer the World

Last year there was a popular map doing the rounds which purported to show the '22 countries which Great Britain had never invaded'. I believe the map was based on the book 'All the Countries We've Ever Invaded: And the Few We Never Got Round To' by Stuart Laycock.

The IBT Pulse is obviously worried that the USA is stalling in its efforts to catch up with the militaristic tendencies of their British cousins.  They have therefore created a similar, useful campaign map of the countries that the USA haven't got around to invading yet.

There is obviously a bit of cheating going on with both maps. The Laycock map includes countries which at some point have had a British military presence through negotiation or payment. It also includes countries which might have been raided by British pirates, privateers or armed explorers operating with the approval of the British government.

The IBT Pulse Map is based on a Congressional Research Service report into where the United States has used its armed forces abroad. This includes occasions when the US Army was used for what the Congressional Research Service call 'humanitarian, medical, security and disaster assistance'.

IBT Pulse has also created an interactive map which shows the most recent countries where US armed forces have been deployed. The map includes dates for each country to show the year of the US's first military presence. You can also click on individual countries to learn more about the nature of each US military deployment.
