Four Million Traffic Violations Mapped
Datainterfaces has mapped over four million traffic violations in the city of Turin. Infrazioni allows you to visualize traffic violations in the city by date, time of day, day of the week, type of vehicle, type of violation and by location.
The map uses data from the city police from the beginning of 2011 to the end of 2015. By using and combining the filter controls in the map sidebar you can browse the data in many different ways. For example, you can combine the days of the week and hours of the day filters to view the number of traffic violations which occurred during the morning rush hour during the days of the working week.
Other filters allow you to view specific types of traffic violations on the map and to filter the data by type of vehicle. For example bikers might be interested in viewing where the most motorbike traffic violations occurred in the city by selecting the 'motorciclo' filter.
The map itself was created with the Leaflet mapping library using grey scale map tiles from Mapbox.
