"I Ain’t Afraid of No Map" - Ghost Mappers

The ghost of the notorious highwayman Dick Turpin is said to visit his uncle’s grave in St Mary the Virgin Church in London. He is just one of three spirits believed to haunt the churchyard, which is also visited by a grey lady searching for her dead husband, and a skeletal figure pushing a cart with an empty coffin - forever hunting for his wife, whose body was stolen by grave robbers.

This is quite a dense concentration of ghouls for such a small area, because according to the UK Haunted Locations Database, there are on average only 0.061 haunted locations per square mile in the UK.

The UK Haunted Locations Database is an interactive map plotting thousands of alleged paranormal hotspots across the country. With 5,732 locations already catalogued - and more added or updated daily - this map can help you discover the most haunted places near you.

The map focuses on locations that have recorded at least one paranormal incident since around 1970. This means it highlights sites where hauntings might still be considered active, rather than places where the ghosts may be “dormant or extinct.” If you click on any of the ghost markers on the map you can view bite-sized case notes summarising the phenomena reported at each location, along with links to the original sources of the ghost's reported sightings.
