Glenn Explore is a 3D open-world driving game that lets you drive a virtual car anywhere on the planet.

Back in the early days of the Google Maps API - when we still called digital mapping "neogeography" - there was a massive craze for building driving games on top of real-world maps. Glenn Explore feels like a love letter to those early days of online mapping.

Admittedly, the tech here is a bit more sophisticated. By leveraging Mapbox GL and Three.js, it creates a much more immersive 3D environment than those original 2D simulators. However, the core gameplay remains blissfully familiar: there is no real objective other than to explore the world from the comfort of your virtual car - while enjoying the "thrill" of driving straight through the middle of buildings that lack collision detection.

Actually, it’s a little unfair to say there are no objectives. While you can freely roam behind the wheel, you can also compete in time trials across various iconic global locations, attempting to beat other players’ times and claim a spot on the global leaderboard.

Glenn Explore also offers a surprisingly diverse garage, letting you swap your standard ride for monster trucks, motorbikes - or even the Batmobile.
