The West Virginia coverage by Google Earth is TERRIBLE. I would like to see what car I had 3 years ago but if it wasn't for the street and city names I couldn't even tell what city I was looking at.

When does Google Earth update it's satellite pictures. I have been looking to see if it shows any improvements on our property and still nothing. It's been almost three years since we planted the to trees shown as green spots in the back yard.

Why are there no replies to the questions in this blog?
    Is anybody listening?

  8. Well I try to answer questions I know the answers to. Remember this is an unofficial blog so we often don't know the answers.

Most of the questions on this post seem to be about Google Earth and this is a Google Maps blog. That is why I referred people to the Google Earth blog in the answer I gave above.

Google earth is a very very handy tool for many kinds of management for which I would like to thank and congratulate google earth. Few things need to be looked into. Some part of the images are not clear where as some parts are very clear. It would be really nice if image quality and resolution could be improved as well updated at least once in a year. I use google images for lot of my reports. Thanks once again.

Does anyone know when we will have Street View in the UK?

  13. I have had a few e-mails from readers in the last couple of weeks who have noticed the street view button on Google Maps in the UK. I haven't seen it myself but it looks like it could be very soon.

    Hello,
I've come to realize that Google Earth is just not up to speed on new images. Now, it really is not their fault,as they take images from what is out there. But,THREE YEARS LATER,They are just not trying!

Admittedly, I don't know how often Google Earth updates, but a huge bush at the side and one tree in front of my house in Nashville were both removed more than four years ago and they still appear in the image.

You people need to understand that google does not have thier own satellite, they get their images from other sources, google has "google earth" which is just a piece of software that combines imagery from different sources, google does not decide when and where a different company will point that companys satellite.

Exactly, which means that the imagery and resolution is determined by private companies that are taking those pictures for other reasons. If Google had their own satelite then they could probably to a full update every month or so. As it is you won't see the resolution improve for your area until a company zooms in on you for a picture which in some cases could be a decade or more. Alternately, there are companies that will use their satelite for $40+ to take a pic of your area at high resolution so u can post it on your wall as art. Ironically, by buying such a picture you would make it possible (as it'd pop on the net as data) for GoogleEarth to take that pic and apply it to the database. Thus showing an updated picture. Otherwise just sit tight or convince Google that there's a business in sending up their own Satelite.

its not hard to update a version peeps. i got the latest 2008-9 one. just go into your original google earth as normal and look on the help tab at the top and youll find 'check for updates online'. And you can then get google earth 4.3 for free!

So in fact paying for google earth pro is just buying out of date maps and photos. I sold my van over 5 years ago and still it shows on my driveway.
May as well just visit your local library and ask for the arial photos for where you want to look at same thing just free and on paper
