The New World Order - Mapped

Atlas Absurdo

If there is one thing we've learned in the 21st Century, it is that planet Earth is in need of some major reorganization. The first task in this global reshuffle? Reallocating the land each country owns based strictly on its population size.

It is patently unfair that the most populous country - India - should be forced to squeeze into the world's 7th largest landmass. Under the "Great 21st Century Planetary Reorganization," Indians will finally be given some breathing room, moving directly into the territory we currently call Russia. It's a simple, logical swap: the people with the largest population is given the country with the largest amount of land.

The Russians don't need to worry; they won't be made homeless. They simply need to pack their bags and move to the new Russia - or the country we currently know as Kazakhstan.

Obviously, under the Great 21st Century Planetary Reorganization, (nearly) everyone on Earth will be forced to move. But don't fret! You can discover exactly where you'll be heading on the Atlas Absurdo interactive map. For example, if you are British, you currently live in the country with the 22nd largest population - which means you will be moving to the 22nd largest country by landmass: Peru.

Navigating the New World Order

When you dive into the Atlas Absurdo, you'll find a world that looks familiar but feels entirely different. To help you keep track of this demographic musical chairs, each country is labeled with its current resident and its former occupant.

Clicking on a country reveals the "paper trail" of each move:

  • Purple Outlines: Show where the current "new" country used to live.
  • Green Outlines: Show where the "old" country (the one that used to own this land) has moved to.
  • Pop-up Info: Since the world is a crowded place, a small pop-up frame will explicitly tell you the destination of the former inhabitants.

The Stationary Seven

Interestingly, under the great reorganization, some countries don't need to move - as they are already perfectly placed. There are seven countries (including the United States) that won't move an inch - their population rank and land area rank are a perfect match. Clicking on them won't trigger any purple or green outlines; they are the anchors of the old world in this new reality.
