GeoFactGuessr
FactMap is the latest map game to be a little like GeoGuessr. However instead of guessing the locations of random Street View images, in this game you need to point to the locations of five daily historical or geographical facts.
FactMap gives you a fact and asks you to work out where on Earth it happened. The answer might be the place where a famous person died, where a treaty was signed, where a band formed, or where a particular animal lives. For example, one question might ask: Where did Julius Caesar die? You then drop a pin on the map and see how close you were.
There are five questions every day, with everyone receiving the same set of questions. Each round is worth up to 1,000 points, with a maximum daily score of 5,000. The closer your pin is to the correct location, the more points you receive. The scoring is based on straight-line distance, although the game sensibly makes some questions more forgiving than others. Pinpointing a city is one thing; trying to identify the exact location of a shipwreck in the middle of an ocean is quite another.
You can also ask for a hint if you're completely stuck. However, using a hint reduces the maximum score for that round from 1,000 to 750, so there is a trade-off between playing it safe and taking a guess.
Five new facts arrive every day at midnight (Paris time).
