GeoGuesser - But judged by an AI
In the last week, I’ve added two new daily challenges to my bookmarks. The first, Parseword, isn’t map-related at all. It’s the latest game from the inventor of Wordle, and if you like cryptic crosswords, it’s dangerously addictive.
The other new addition is StreetSeekr, a fun geo-guessing-style game. If you’re reading this blog, there’s a good chance you’re already familiar with the GeoGuessr format - being dropped somewhere in the world on Google Maps Street View and having to identify your location from the visual clues.
StreetSeekr flips that idea. Instead of asking where am I?, it asks where can I find this? Instead of placing you randomly somewhere on Earth, it gives you a specific object to find in Street View and lets you navigate anywhere in the world in your search.
For example, today’s daily challenge asks you to find an airplane on Street View. All you have to do is drop Pegman somewhere you think an aircraft might appear (an airport is a good place to start). Once you spot the object, you simply hit submit.
This is where the clever twist comes in: StreetSeekr uses AI to determine whether your submitted Street View scene actually contains the required object.
Each day’s challenge includes three different objects to find somewhere in the world. Today’s targets are an airplane, someone fishing, and a yellow sports car - and you have just five minutes to find all three!
