The IRL Streaming Map
lucent.earth is a 'real-time visualization of global live streams and radio stations'. Which makes it sound a bit more exciting than it really is.
Mapping live video streams is hardly an original concept. However, now we've entered the 'influencer age' - defined by 24-hour real-time oversharing - perhaps the time for lucent.earth has finally come.
lucent.earth is essentially a 3D globe that lets you discover streams from Twitch, YouTube, and Kick. Kick was new to me, but based on my time with the map, it seems to be a platform primarily designed for boring men to record themselves walking around at night annoying strangers. Therein lies the problem. On the surface lucent.earth seems like a really exciting idea - unfortunately live streamers seem to consist almost exclusively of the exceptionally dull.
I did manage to find an exciting ice-fishing stream from Finland though.
