Where in the World…? A GeoGuessr-Style Game for History Buffs

Fans of GeoGuessr will be familiar with the addictive game-play of Where in the World: click on an interactive map to guess a location as accurately as possible. But what if, instead of deciphering road signs and landscapes, you had to rely on your knowledge of world history?

That’s the premise behind Where in the World…, a simple but surprisingly challenging map game that asks players to locate where major historical events took place.

How the Game Works

Each game consists of 10 questions. For every round you are presented with a historical event and asked to click on a world map where you think it occurred. The closer your guess is to the correct location, the better your score. After you place your guess, the game reveals the actual location and calculates the distance between your guess and the correct answer.

Your distances from all ten rounds are then added together to create a Total Distance score - meaning the goal is to finish with the lowest possible total.

Geography Meets History

While most GeoGuessr-style games focus on identifying locations from images, Where in the World… flips the concept. Instead of reading landscapes, you have to recall where history happened.

That means remembering whether a treaty was signed in Paris or Versailles, where a famous battle took place, or which city hosted a defining moment in political or cultural history. It’s a format that blends geographic knowledge with historical context. So how good is your knowledge of world history?
