Global Warming on Google Maps

The Future of Freezing

Climate Central has produced a Google Map to show how global warming may affect average temperatures in the USA during the months of February and March.

The map shows animations of projections of future average temperatures in the U.S. for February and March until the end of the century, focusing on where the average temperature is expected to be above or below freezing. Click 'play' to view the animations.

It is possible to view two scenarios in the animations, a low carbon pollution scenario and a high pollution scenario. The future projections underlying the animations are based on the results of 16 different global climate models.
