Fly the Real World Flight Sim
TripGeo Air is an impressive new browser-based flight simulator that lets you fly over a photorealistic 3D model of the real world.
What makes TripGeo Air particularly fun - besides the thrill of flying over your favorite landmarks - is the game's progression tasks. New pilots begin with simple circuit training before unlocking a series of paid jobs, including sightseeing flights, cargo deliveries, and passenger charters. Completing jobs earns credits which can be spent on unlocking more than twenty different aircraft, from light propeller planes to regional turboprops and airliners, each with its own handling characteristics. The result is an enjoyable progression system that gives players rewards and a reason to keep returning to the skies.
Alongside these impressive game features, TripGeo Air also provides cinematic tours - straight from your own geographic data. Upload a KML or GeoJSON file exported from Google Earth, Google My Maps, or your favourite GIS application, and the game places up to 200 of your own locations directly into the 3D world. You can then either fly to each marker yourself or sit back and let the Cinematic Tour mode do the work. The tour automatically flies between your locations, orbiting each one while displaying its name, making it an engaging new way to present travel itineraries, historical sites, walking routes, or any other collection of mapped places.
Under the hood, TripGeo Air is powered by the CesiumJS 3D globe engine, using Google's Photorealistic 3D Tiles to recreate real cities, landscapes, and coastlines inside the browser. This combination allows the simulator to stream detailed 3D environments on demand, creating a surprisingly seamless experience considering there is no download or installation required.
Whether you want to test your piloting skills by squeezing a Boeing 737 between skyscrapers, or simply want to watch the sunset over a custom 3D flight path of your last summer holiday, TripGeo Air is an absolute joy to play with. By blending the gamified progression of a classic flight sim with the sheer power of modern web-cartography, it transforms spatial data into a living, breathing adventure.
