Mapping Central Bank Interest Rates
Central Bank interest rates in most major western countries are at historic lows as governments try to stimulate their economies by encouraging businesses and individuals not to save and to spend or invest their money instead.
Folha de S,Paulo has created a Google Map to show the interest rates of central banks across the globe. In Japan the interest rate is 0%, while in Brasil it is 11%. The Folha de S.Paulo heat map provides a quick visualization of the interest rates in different countries and you can also click on individual countries to view their exact rate.
The 'Ranking Global' link also provides a ranking of countries, with the countries with the highest interest rates at the top of the list and the lowest rates at the bottom.
