The Best of the Rest
The New Scientist's Climate Change Map shows the worlwide rise in temperatures over the last hundred years.
A heat map layer displays temperature rises just in the last 20 years. However users can click anywhere on the map to view a graph of recorded temperatures from the nineteenth century. The map itself I think was created with leaflet.js.
TuneMap is a Cloudmade / leaflet.js / OpenStreetMap music map that allows the user to discover what bands and artists emanate from different locations.
What I really like about this map is that not only can you find out what bands and artists have sprung from different locations but you can listen to their music directly from the map. Using the map it is possible to navigate to a city inside a country, then select an artist and find their albums and songs. If you then click on a song name you can listen to a 30 second preview.
