5,000 New York telephones have been turned into time machines for an awesome new public art exhibition.
Recalling 1993 is an art project using New York's remaining pay phones to allow you to listen to the memories of local people by phoning 1-855-FOR-1993.
You can find a participating pay phone using the Recalling 1993 Google Map. You can then use the phone to call toll-free and listen to a monologue about what the area was like back in 1993. The map itself includes a number of examples of the historical monologues. So, it you don't live in New York, you can still listen to some of the memories directly from the map.
