Google Maps on the Heritage Trail
Australia's North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum has used the Google Maps API to create a virtual Heritage Trail of some of the island's historically important sites.
The map consists of three heritage trails, which are walking routes that take in some of the historically interesting locations on the island. The points of interest on each trail are indicated on the map by yellow map markers.
Users can click on any of the markers to read about about the historical site indicated. Each information window includes a slideshow of vintage photographs of the location. If you mouseover the thumbnail images you can view a larger image of the thumbnail within the information window and you can click on any of the photos to view them in full size.
