iPhone Apps & Google Maps

Twitter Powered Traffic App (app store link)

BNE Traffic is an iPhone application that displays traffic incidents around the greater Brisbane area using information from hundreds of Twitter users using the #bnetraffic hash tag.

The application uses Google Maps to display information about current traffic conditions. The markers on the map show where traffic obstacles have been identified.

Stalqer
As its name suggests, Stalqer is an iPhone application that will let you follow the movements of other people without their express permission.

Stalqer connects to your Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare accounts and can display a Google Map of your friends based on their location sharing on those services.

Stalqer can grab location data from (public) Facebook profiles, geo-tagged Tweets and from Fousquare.

You can add the Tagcrumbs iPhone application soon. It will be available on January 12th, more information can be found on http://blog.tagcrumbs.com/2009/12/tagcrumbs-iphone-app-launch-in-january.html.

Tagcrumbs has already been covered on Google Maps Mania in the past.

I like the concept behind stalqer, but I'm afraid the name might ward off some well-intentioned users. Something like FriendFinder might be more conducive to getting downloads for the app. I would not be surprised to see a slew of iphone apps with the same premise as Location based apps such as FB places, 4sq, scvngr, etc grow in popularity. Also see pleaserobme.com for issues with this trend.
