Real-Time Google Map for SXSW

Vicarious.ly

Vicarious.ly is a Google Map mashup that displays a real-time stream of what's going on in Austin, TX. The map displays geo-tagged content from Twitter, FourSquare, Gowalla, Loopt, Whrrl, Plancast, Brizzly and a few other location services.

When you first load the map you see the last 15 minutes of activity stream by quickly and, from that point forward, new activity in real-time. The individual messages are shown on the map with map markers bearing the logos of the location service used and the messages are displayed beneath the map.

The map has been developed for SXSW in Austin but there are plans to launch Vicarious.ly maps of many other cities around the world in the near future.

Maybe someday there'll be a map that will show one's whereabout just like Harry Potter's map. Who knows?
