Share Your Travels on Google Maps

Symbolya
Symbolya is a a new Google Maps based travel sharing website. Using the site it is quickly possible to create a Google Map to show where you have been travelling.

The really cool thing about Symbolya however is the large collection of categorised cartoon style map markers available. You are able to select categories of map marker from history, activities, events etc. When you pick an event Symbolya will highlight those markers that are most relevant to your current map view.

For example, if you are centred on Paris and pick 'architecture' you will have available cartoon style map markers of the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame, the Moulin Rouge etc.

This video probably explains it a little better:

I can also see another possible use for Symbolya. The cartoon style map markers would make this an excellent tool for geography lessons with younger children. I can imagine children having a lot of fun using Symbolya to create projects on different cities around the world.
