Every Traffic Fatality in America

Mapping Traffic Fatalities on America’s Roads is a Google Map which visualizes every traffic fatality on American roads for any month from 2001 to 2016.

Using the month and year drop-down menus you can select to view the data for any month. The fatalities shown on the map aren't differentiated by type of vehicle or by the weather conditions but you can click on individual markers to view this information and to discover if drunk driving was involved in the accident.

You can also use the polygon drawing tool to view the details for any area on the map. After you have drawn around the area you wish to view the colored bar chart in the map tools window shows a break-down of the accidents by type of vehicle, weather condition and drunk driving. It also shows the total number of fatal accidents in the selected area.

Mapping Ten Years of Fatal Traffic Accidents is an interactive map showing every single fatal traffic accident in the United States from 2004 to 2013.

When zoomed out the map presents a heatmap view showing the locations where the most fatal traffic accidents have occurred. When you zoom-in markers appear showing the location of each individual fatal accident. This means that you can zoom on any city or town in the USA to view a detailed map of where accidents occurred locally.

When you zoom-in option controls also appear on the map which allow you to filter the accidents shown by contributing factors (alcohol, speeding and driver distraction). The markers are also colored on the map to show who was killed in each accident (driver, passenger, pedestrian etc).
