Better Bushfire Mapping

Australia's Sentinel Hotspots system is a national bushfire monitoring system designed to provide information about hotspots to emergency services across Australia. The mapping system allows users to identify fire locations which are a potential risk to communities and property.

Sentinel Hotspots has now been improved to provide better and more information about satellite detected fires over the continent. The new version of Sentinel Hotspots also includes a number of layers which can be overlaid on top of the Google Map's interface, These include layers for Local Government Areas with data from NEXIS (the National Exposure Information System), for example population estimates, residential building replacement value estimates, commercial building counts and replacement value estimates.

Sentinel Hotspots also now includes an option to view historical bushfire data on the map, which can be filtered by location and date. Users can also download the data in a number of different formats.
