Make your Own Google Maps Sculptures

Tracksedge is a neat service that allows you to create and purchase your own sculpture based on a favorite route or GPS track. Using Tracksedge you can buy a laser cut sculpture, created from polished aluminium, of a number of marathon and F1 tracks around the world. You can also use a GPS track or Google Maps to create your own sculpted route.

If you select to create your own route you simply need to trace your route on a Google Map, select a color and size for your sculpture and place your order. As well as buying sculpted routes Tracksedge allows you to buy a number of terrain elevations (as seen in the screenshot above).

Have you ever dreamed of owning your own 3d scale model of the Grand Canyon or the Matterhorn? Well thanks to the Terrainator you now can.

The Terrainator uses Google Maps to help you select your favorite area of terrain. It then creates an accurate scale model and uploads it to Shapeways, ready for 3D-printing. The cost of the model depends on the volume of material required to make the model. Flatter models are therefore cheaper than mountainous areas, although they are much less fun.

Currently you can buy models from terrain in the USA, the UK, Norway and from the Alps.
