Add an Open Weather Layer to Google Maps

The Open Weather Map is an open-sourced weather layer that can be added to lots of on-line map services, including Google Maps.

The weather layer allows users to view up-to-date weather conditions from more than 20 000 weather stations around the world. The layer displays the data from the weather stations with no more than a one minute delay.

Open Weather Map can be used to display near real-time information about temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, cloud cover, wind speed & direction and precipitation on a map. Open Weather Map are currently writing a JavaScript library to help users add the layer using the Google Maps API but you can see for yourself how you can add the layer by looking at the code of this example map.

Open Weather Map is crowd-sourced so anyone can connect a weather station to the Open Weather Map database.
