Google Map of the 21st Century

Mediate Census: Mapping a Decade

Website Mediaite are holding an interesting census, with the help of Google Maps, to track their readers' movements since the beginning of the 21st Century. To add yourself to the map you just need to enter the city where you lived in 2000, and where you live now.

Red lines on the map indicate moves from east to west and blue show the opposite. The icons over cities scale depending on whether people moved to or from them, and grow more opaque with the more moves in and out. On the map you can scroll over each line to see the reason for a person’s move.
