Crisis Mapping for Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda

Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda is one of the most powerful recorded storms to have made landfall, causing widespread devastation, particularly in the Philippines. The storm has now made landfall in north Vietnam.

Google Crisis Response has released a crowdsourced map of evacuation centers, crisis areas and relief drop zone areas in the Philippines. The map also shows the path of the typhoon and its current position.

The Standby Task Force is using the Micromappers mapping platform to help map the storm damage in the Philippines and to map communities in need of water, sanitation and aid services. Storm damage and community needs are being mapped on the SBTF Crisis Map.

Rappler has released the Project Agos Disaster Information Map to report and map critical information such as flooding, road or building damage and information about those who need rescue or assistance. Rappler has also released a map of Relief Needs and Relief Operation Centers in the Philippines.

The Guardian has put together a useful list of aid groups and charities working to help people affected by the typhoon. The list includes links to where you can donate to each charity.
