Where & When to See the Solar Eclipse

If you want to find out whether you can see today's solar eclipse then check out the HeyWhatsThat solar eclipse tool.

The app uses two Google Earth browser plug-in views. One view shows the path of the sun and the other shows the moon and the sun. You can click anywhere on the earth view to see what the solar eclipse will look like from that location.

The application also includes a time-line. You can click anywhere on the time-line to discover how the solar eclipse will appear at a specified time from any location. For the best view of the eclipse you will need to be in west Africa. However if you live on the eastern seaboard of the United States you should be able to see a partial eclipse, very early Sunday morning.
