Mapping the Japanese Regional Economy

The Japanese Municipal Economy Map uses data from the 2010 census to visualize the economic health of every Japanese municipality.

The map presents a choropleth view of each municipality's economic deviation score based on an average of 50. If you hover over a municipality on the map you can view the municipality's score and a breakdown of its score for each of eight key economic indices.

The bar charts showing the eight indices include a nice bounce animation when they first appear. The map makes good use of d3.js for both sorting the data and for creating the bar chart animations. Unfortunately the map has been set to a max height of 100%, which means on my laptop at least, I can only view the scores for four of the key indices, without the option to scroll down the page to view the hidden scores.
